Historical Note
Thkianema (lit. Wandering) was an anarchist magazine published in Limassol between 1995 and 2003. It carried the subtitle “the publication with an expiry date.” The issue numbering began at number 20 and continued backwards. The last issue published appears to have been issue number 11. It was distributed free of charge.
'Issues' 191) and 172) were not published as printed editions, but as radio broadcasts. Meanwhile, 'Issue' 14 was published as a column across several issues of the magazine Eks Iparhis.
Magazine Identity
Thkianema, from the Cypriot thkianévkomai, meaning “to take a walk” in Standard Modern Greek, or “taking a walk on the wild side,” as Lou Reed might put it, has a series of suspect targets. The train is waiting in the underground of the city for the expansion of the free zones, and these publications will take the form of a semiological guerrilla war for the next assault of desire. Consequently, Thkianema will be disorderly, mad, seemingly makeshift and experimental. Like reconnaissance of the terrain.3)
